Toyoda Apologizes in Beijing

Toyota President Akio Toyoda spoke at a press conference today in Beijing to express the same story presented to Congress last week. He parroted his company's position that the emergence of safety issues with Toyota's vehicles were a result of the company's rapid expansion in North America. This position is one Toyota is fighting strenuously to maintain in the face of growing evidence that Toyota may have willfully ignored evidence of safety problems.
